Data Governance Engineer

Job Description

You will be responsible for scaling, automating, and optimizing HBX data governance policies and processes across all stages of the data lifecycle. This role is a key contributor to delivering and successfully executing the Data Governance Roadmap. You will be actively involved in creating the company's data quality foundation by developing and implementing technical solutions related to: Data Governance & Management policies as code Automatic Data Observability and Quality metrics implementation Effective Metadata Management & Data Catalogue Automation of Data Policies and Procedures Automation of Data Security processes and controls Responsibilities : Reporting to the Head of Data Governance Office, this role will be responsible for: Designing and implementing automatic Data Governance policies and procedures, detecting bad practices, and preventing data quality issues across various data layers and lifecycle phases. Designing and implementing automatic Data Management policies, procedures, and controls (policy as code) to prevent data misuse. Designing and implementing automatic Data Quality controls, validations, metrics, and alerts. Collaborating with Data Governance Enterprise Architect to design data extraction, transformation, and loading processes using SQL, Python, and AWS 'big data' technologies. Building and deploying Data Governance tools to support Data Analysts and Data Scientists. Skills Education: Degree in Computer & Information Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, BI & Data Analytics, Big Data. Experience: Proficiency in Python and SQL, experience with relational databases, data security management, root cause analysis, automation, and working with structured and unstructured datasets. Technical Skills: Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses, SQL, Python, ETL tools like Airflow, data transformation with dbt, governance platforms like Collibra, data visualization with Tableau, and version control with Git. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, project management (Agile, Scrum, Kanban), bilingual in English & Spanish, strategic thinking, results-oriented, data literacy, and visualization skills. Day-to-day activities include governing the HBX Data Platform Stack, designing automated data governance policies and controls, ensuring data security and compliance, and managing the full data lifecycle in accordance with policies.
