Quantity Surveyor

Our client, Phase Three, is a construction company located in Sea Point. Phase Three specialises in high-end residential and commercial developments in Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula and the Cape Winelands. The company is seeking the services of an innovative, business-minded Quantity Surveyor to join their team. Responsibilities: Work in conjunction with colleagues, contractors, subcontractors, and clients to establish project requirements Undertake feasibility studies to ensure the feasibility of proposals Estimate material quantities, rates, pricing, labour, and time (Bill of Quantities) Prepare tender and contract documentation Perform risk assessments, value management and cost control during projects Undertake cost analysis for repairs, renovations, replacements, and maintenance work Engage in terms of the construction process (e.g., planning, procurement, appointment, payment evaluations, claims, payments, supplier accounts, variations, and plant hire management) Negotiate contracts and work schedules Value completed work and arrange for payments Ensure that projects meet legal and quality standards Report on final accounts and costs at the conclusion of projects Continually analyse outcomes and write budget reports Advise on contractual claims and disputes Keep up-to-date with industry trends and regulations Requirements Degree in Quantity Surveying (Honours degree will be advantageous) Exposure to project management and certificate in Project Management / Construction Management will be advantageous Experience as a Quantity Surveyor (at least 2 years) in the construction industry will be advantageous Financial and business acumen: business financial health and cost implications Comprehensive understanding of building contracts and legal requirements Computer literate Proficiency in cost estimation software and project management tools (Candy) Strong analytical skills and creative approach to problem-solving
