Job Description

Our client, a well-established and respected organization, is urgently looking for a Procurement Officer to join their team in Midrand. In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders from member institutions to identify opportunities for new group purchasing agreements. The role encompasses market research, procurement strategy development, and the management of tender and contract award processes to deliver high-value, cost-effective group contracts. You will also be responsible for nurturing supplier relationships, ensuring contract compliance, and promoting the organizations services. In addition, the role includes coordinating cross-functional procurement forums and contributing to both strategic and operational planning in partnership with the leadership team. Key Responsibilities: Administer and evaluate tenders, ensuring smooth and transparent processes. Manage procurement services across designated contract portfolios, with a focus on efficiency, cost reduction, and supplier performance. Oversee supplier contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality service delivery. Maintain professional and effective communication with both clients and suppliers. Respond promptly to queries from member institutions and vendors, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes. Resolve order and delivery issues effectively and in a timely manner. Facilitate efficient supply chain processes aligned with organizational goals. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, including bulk purchasing and shared service models. Supervise one support staff member and provide cross-functional backup support when needed. Deliver accurate and timely reports to the CEO and relevant member forums. Ensure that all tender and procurement procedures comply with legal and regulatory standards. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Business Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate procurement environment, with specific experience managing tenders in the private sector. Proficiency with e-procurement platforms. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
