Job Description
Key Responsibilities: Plan weekly menus that are balanced, cost-effective, and cater to various dietary needs. Shop for groceries and supplies to ensure fresh and sufficient stock is maintained at all times. Prepare and cook daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for up to 30 people. Pre-pack and deliver lunch boxes to workers on-site according to daily schedules. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dining area, and food storage areas in full compliance with health and safety regulations. Store food correctly to ensure freshness and prevent spoilage or contamination. Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and order supplies as needed to avoid shortages. Maintain accurate daily records of food consumption, ingredient usage, and stock levels. Report on food inventory, consumption patterns, and restocking needs to site management. Reduce waste through smart portioning, efficient use of ingredients, and proper food storage. Assist in hospitality support for visitors or meetings held at the camp. Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and hygiene protocols. Qualifications and Requirements: Proven experience as a cook or chef, ideally in remote or high-volume environments. Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and storage standards. Ability to independently manage meal planning, shopping, preparation, and service. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and time management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina to meet the demands of working in a remote location. Willingness to work roster-based schedules and reside on-site as required. Flexi-hours to meet operational requirements. Preferred: Certification in food safety or professional culinary training. Experience catering in mining, construction, or other remote camp environments. What We Offer: Fixed-term contract for a period of 8 months. At the sole discretion of the employer, there may be a prospect of permanent employment at Bond Equipment's Head Office located in Klerksdorp, North-West Province.
