Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Enterprise Data Architect (Azure) to join our dynamic team. This role is both strategic and tactical: you will design, implement, and manage scalable, secure data solutions on Azure, while also rolling up your sleeves to build and optimize data pipelines. You will work closely with business and technical partners to modernize our data warehouse, enable advanced analytics and reporting, and ensure our data architecture supports Champion’s current and future business needs. Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Fabric, and related services. Lead the modernization of the existing tailored Navision data warehouse to a cloud-native Azure platform. Architect solutions for both batch and real-time data processing (including API-based streaming; Kafka experience is a plus but not required). Develop and maintain enterprise data architecture frameworks, standards, and principles that align with business and IT strategies. Hands-on Data Engineering Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows. Serve as both architect and data engineer—designing solutions and executing their implementation. Ensure data consistency, quality, and security across all systems and platforms. Collaboration & Leadership Work directly with business stakeholders in Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to understand requirements and deliver actionable data solutions. Collaborate with third-party implementation partners and internal teams, while also executing significant DIY development. Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver roadmaps and enable data capabilities. Data Management & Governance Oversee the management and optimization of data storage, processing, and integration solutions on Azure. Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory standards. Implement and promote best practices for data governance, protection, and documentation. Oversee the implementation of data governance policies and procedures. Reporting & Analytics Enable and support Power BI for business reporting and analytics. Assist in the development of a practical roadmap for an enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytics platform. Performance Optimization & Innovation Monitor and optimize the performance of data solutions, ensuring efficient data processing and retrieval. Stay current with Azure and data industry trends; proactively propose and implement innovative solutions. Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve data management. Documentation Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, and solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on Azure services. Proven expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Fabric, and Power BI. Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing. Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and Azure infrastructure. Knowledge of data security, compliance standards, and DevOps practices. Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer) preferred. Strong programming skills in SQL and/or Python Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
