Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) Location: Baltimore, MD 21201 Start Date: July 7, 2025 (or ASAP) Duration: 13 weeks (Contract) Schedule: Mid Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend Orientation: 40 hours (non-billable) Float: May float within the hospital system Position Overview: This role requires experience in sterile processing and scope room operations within a Level I and II trauma center environment. You will be responsible for the preparation, sterilization, and handling of surgical instruments and equipment to ensure a sterile and safe surgical environment. Key Responsibilities: Perform aseptic technique during preparation and handling of surgical instruments Assemble and prepare case carts and instrument trays with proper selection and labeling of wrapping materials Execute sterilization wrapping procedures and monitor sterilization processes using biological and chemical indicators Conduct immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) and perform steam sterilization testing/monitoring Perform decontamination and disinfection using chemical agents and washers/sterilizers Handle specialty equipment including scopes (ENT, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology) using appropriate processing techniques Operate equipment such as steam sterilizers, washer disinfectors, low temperature sterilization units (VPR), Medivator for scope processing, Scope Buddy, and cart washers
