Job Description
In this position, you will provide expertise and support in the assessment and management of individual Medical Underwriting (UW) and claims cases from a medical, non-medical (financial, special risks, etc.), legal, contractual, and administrative perspective at SCOR Italy. You will help manage internal tools to ensure a correct workflow process and will proactively contribute to future developments linked to Medical UW and Claims evolutions, including digitization and other innovation initiatives. Medical and Financial Underwriting Manual: You contribute to defining and updating the rules and regulations of the medical and financial UW manual (SOLEM or equivalent). You adapt content to the local language and proactively provide clear guidance on definitions. You apply sophisticated underwriting procedures to assess medical and financial risks for facultative clients. You handle, understand, and manage different types of claims. You communicate with all levels of client underwriters and other company management personnel, explaining the reasoning behind underwriting decisions and impairments. You initiate and drive initiatives related to Medical UW & Claims client servicing (mainly case handling), highlighting relevant findings for action, ensuring a competitive turnaround time while maintaining SCOR standards. Commercial and Marketing: You stay updated on current medical topics, economic and business environments, and evolving financial evaluation concepts. You conduct medical and financial UW training sessions for clients, including seminars and specific training. You contribute to adapting informative documents related to medical and financial underwriting for the local context. You incorporate medical and financial underwriting perspectives into product development. You collaborate closely with Business Development and pricing teams to develop new products and benefits. You possess an innovative mindset, with awareness of AI trends in Medical UW & Claims and their potential impact on the future of underwriting. You support clients during onboarding of tools provided by SCOR. You promote the use of EUW and VClaim tools, supporting clients and colleagues in Velogica with implementation. Governance and Reporting: You understand internal processes, tools, and systems related to UW & Claims. You prepare reports for business monitoring and risk accumulation. You collaborate with the technical accounting department for claims control and registration. You work with the actuarial department to monitor sports professional athletes. Professional experience in the insurance sector is required, with a priority for experience in life reinsurance (8-10 years, with a minimum of 5 years in this area). You should have excellent communication skills, be a change agent for innovation, and hold at least a bachelor’s degree in economics, insurance, or a similar field. Strong analytical and reporting skills, a proactive problem-solving approach, and a collaborative spirit are essential. An international mindset and the ability to adapt to different cultures and practices are also important. You should be able to identify risks and challenges in UW and Claims functions and contribute to solutions. Willingness to travel within Italy and abroad for meetings and client visits is expected.
