THE OPPORTUNITY We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to join our CARE team in Portugal! We are looking for a passionate and skilled Manager to help us build the next generation of AI-powered solutions. This role focuses on generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) LLMs fine tuning, and API integrations. YOUR IMPACT You will work on one or more of the following areas: Generative AI Development : Design, develop, and implement generative AI applications. Work with large language models (LLMs) to create innovative solutions. Conduct research to stay updated with advancements in generative AI. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) : Develop and optimize RAG systems to improve AI performance and accuracy. Implement data retrieval mechanisms to support RAG frameworks. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure seamless data pipeline integration. API Development and Integration : Design and develop APIs for AI models and services. Ensure APIs are secure, scalable, and high-performing. Ensure seamless integration of AI applications with other systems to enhance interoperability. Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and engineers. Participate in code reviews and offer constructive feedback. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Live the mission: promote wellbeing, foster a supportive environment, and encourage work-life balance. Main requirements WHO YOU ARE Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields. Experience managing or leading a software engineering team. Knowledge of RAG and related AI technologies. Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java. Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., OpenSearch, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL). Experience in API development and integration. Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work on scalable, distributed projects. Proven experience with projects of undefined scope. Quick learner, adaptable to new technologies. Proven ability to build reliable MVPs and pilots quickly.
