Automation & Control Technician

We have a permanent Automation & Control Technician role available within Tata Steel Tubes . This role is ideal for someone with strong PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation skills and is technical, collaborative, and crucial to maintaining manufacturing operations. Role: Automation & Control Technician Location: Hartlepool (TS25) Rate: £40,830 (Inclusive of shift allowance), rising to £47,435 upon demonstration of site-specific competencies quarterly bonus Contract length: Permanent Shift Patterns: Shift work required (details to be confirmed) Responsibilities: Diagnose and resolve faults in PLC, SCADA, and industrial control systems (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley) Maintain and calibrate instrumentation, control loops, and variable speed drives Support system upgrades and commissioning of automation equipment Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational efficiency standards Work collaboratively with engineers and operators to optimise system performance Essential requirements: HNC or higher qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant field Hands-on experience with PLC programming and fault-finding (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley) Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, Profibus, and Profinet networks Desirable requirements: Driving license and use of a car Experience with process control systems in heavy industry or manufacturing Benefits: Advice and editing on your current CV Dedicated team throughout your journey within the role Paid holiday Exclusive online services including restaurant and retail discounts Chance to receive £300* for referring a friend Opportunity for progression into permanent roles Competitive rates of pay Does this role sound interesting?
