SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Location: Purley, CR8 Start Date: September 2025 Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience and qualifications Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only The Role We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN HLTA to join our team from September 2025. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver high-quality interventions and support for pupils with a range of complex needs. The school is a nurturing and inclusive special educational needs (SEN) school located in the heart of Purley. Key Responsibilities Support the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities for individuals and small groups. Lead class sessions in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning. Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans. Provide emotional and behavioural support to pupils, promoting positive behaviour strategies. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external agencies. Contribute to assessment and record-keeping in line with school policies. Support with personal care and mobility needs where required. Essentials: HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience. Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with autism, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A patient, flexible, and resilient approach. Desirable: Experience in a special school setting. Training in Team Teach, PECS, Makaton, or similar. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. What We Offer A supportive and friendly team environment.
