Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Emergency Medicine in California

About The Position We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a 31-day locum tenens assignment at two hospital locations in California, starting 09/01/2025. This position involves working 10-hour shifts from either 2 PM to 12 AM or 4 PM to 2 AM, with an average of 35 hours per week (7 shifts every 2 weeks). The assignment will be split between facilities, which are approximately 20 minutes apart. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing low acuity patients in a fast-track emergency medicine setting, handling basic lacerations, I&D abscesses, sore throats, and ear infections. Proficiency with Epic EMR is required. Job Details: Location: California Facility Type: Hospital Start Date: 09/01/2025 LOA: 31 days Provider Type Needed: Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Schedule: 10-hour shifts (2 PM - 12 AM or 4 PM - 2 AM), 7 shifts every 2 weeks Responsibilities and Duties: • Provide emergency medical care in a fast-track setting • Manage low acuity patients efficiently and effectively • Perform basic procedures such as laceration repairs and I&D of abscesses • Diagnose and treat common conditions like sore throats and ear infections • Conduct patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans • Collaborate with emergency department physicians and nursing staff • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Epic EMR • Ensure high-quality patient care and safety during all procedures • Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members • Manage time efficiently, seeing patients for 9 hours of the 10-hour shift Additional Information: • Must be licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in California • Experience in emergency medicine is required • Familiarity with Epic EMR is necessary • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment • Flexibility to work at two different hospital locations • Opportunity for assignment extension may be available Apply now to learn more!
