Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Solicitor / Lawyer specializing in consumer flight claims (typically via small claims procedure) to lead in-court collections or to open their own boutique legal firm in Italy. Pre-court collections are managed by a team of paralegals. You will be responsible for filing batches of court cases to collect compensation and/or reimbursement of Out-of-Pocket Expenses (OPE) incurred by passengers and/or recover ticket refunds. AirAdvisor currently handles three types of claims: EU261 / UK261 compensation for flight delays, cancellations, and denied boarding. We plan to launch baggage claims (delayed or lost) soon. If the law or judge decides the case unfairly, we would consider escalating this to change the law, if feasible. There may be PR opportunities regarding court victories and legal issues to raise public awareness. This role is ideal for high performers who can work independently, have strong litigation experience, and are passionate about advocating for consumer rights in the airline industry. The candidate must be free from conflicts of interest, meaning they are free to litigate claims against different airlines. Requirements A valid lawyer’s / solicitor’s license and legal insurance. A law degree from an accredited institution. Experience with small claims, consumer rights, or aviation law is a plus but not required. Knowledge of relevant consumer protection laws and aviation regulations is a plus but not required. Proven track record of successful in-court collections. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case merits, conduct legal research, and develop effective legal strategies. Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and track statute of limitations. Experience in automating and standardizing claims management processes to scale up quickly. Responsibilities Preparing and filing batches of cases in courts against different airlines, responding to airline legal defenses. Leading enforcement of court decisions, if necessary. Conducting legal research and accumulating best practices for dealing with various issues. Negotiating in-court settlements, if applicable. Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Staying updated on developments in consumer protection laws and aviation regulations. Being professional, ambitious, and open to testing AI solutions and new approaches to claims management. Being self-aware, honest, responsible for mistakes, and committed to continuous improvement. Delivering results quickly and making a significant business impact. Managing multiple projects independently and demonstrating initiative.
