Marine Estimator

Palumbo – a leading company in the shipbuilding industry, committed to providing innovative solutions and fostering an engaging and inclusive work environment, with a strong market presence and a continuous pursuit of excellence – is looking for a Marine Estimator The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing technical and economic quotations for complex refit projects, working closely with technical departments, suppliers, project managers, and international clients. Main Responsibilities Analyze technical requests from clients, including specifications, onboard surveys, and related documentation. Prepare detailed cost estimates for all refit activities: hull work, systems and equipment, interiors, painting, propulsion, and onboard systems. Estimate labor hours, material costs, subcontracting, and third-party services . Manage the RFQ process and evaluate supplier/subcontractor offers from both technical and financial perspectives. Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Company Management to define offers, margins, and pricing strategies. Draft structured technical proposals to support commercial negotiations. Maintain and update the cost database , internal price lists, and job statistics. Provide support in revising estimates during project execution (variations, extra works, contract updates). ️ Required Qualifications Degree in Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a technical diploma with solid experience in the role. Minimum 3 years of experience as an estimator in the yachting/marine sector, preferably in yacht refit. Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system specifications (2D/3D CAD). In-depth knowledge of refit processes: mechanics, systems, carpentry, joinery, painting. Excellent proficiency in Excel and digital estimation tools (spreadsheets, technical management software). Fluent English (minimum level C1), both spoken and written – required for daily communication with clients and suppliers. Knowledge of French is considered a plus, but not mandatory (B1 level or willingness to learn).
