Immigration Specialist (New York)

Our client, a global law firm with offices in 12 countries, is looking for a contract Immigration Specialist to join their HR team. This Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert for immigration matters for new hires requiring visa sponsorship (H-1B, L-1, O-1) or permanent residency (PERM, I-140, I-485). This is an ongoing contract for about 6-12 months, depending on business needs. Responsibilities will include: Serve as point of contact for HR team on immigration matters for new hires/internal transfers, including keeping the team apprised of timelines and any delays in the process Serve as point of contact for employees regarding immigration processes and timelines Work with outside immigration counsel on petition filings, extensions, and adjustments of status Prepare immigration support letters and provide employment verification documents as needed Oversee immigration deadlines like work authorization renewals, green card milestones, and visa expirations Liaise with Payroll and Benefits on I-9 compliance Monitor ongoing changes in immigration laws and regulations Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree 3 years of experience in employment-based immigration processes Knowledge of I-9 compliance Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with immigration tracking software ideal
