Project Engineer

ArcelorMittal México is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Strategic Projects Department at the Lázaro Cárdenas plant. This position plays a critical role in the supervision and coordination of capital investment projects, ensuring the achievement of project goals in terms of schedule, budget, and quality. Our main facility is located in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán , where we proudly serve as the largest employer in the state. The steel produced at this site supports major infrastructure and industrial development across the globe. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the overall control and monitoring of assigned projects across all phases, in accordance with company procedures. Support Project Managers in defining project scope, timelines, budget, resource planning, document control plans, procurement strategies, and regulatory frameworks. Assist in preparing cost estimations, risk assessments, and project milestones for CAPEX planning. Implement performance indicators to monitor project progress against CAPEX strategies. Generate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports. Identify deviations and provide timely feedback and potential solutions to senior leadership. Collaborate on procurement processes, contract management, and change control. Contribute to technical and financial project closure and generate post-completion reports. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, or related). Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in project coordination, ideally in capital investment environments. Solid understanding of project planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and other project management tools. Effective communication and organizational skills. Soft Skills & Technical Expertise Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Proactive and solution-oriented approach. Excellent time management and reporting capabilities. Knowledge of QA/QC principles and ability to ensure compliance with quality standards and technical specifications. Familiarity with quality inspections, contractor oversight, and documentation review related to project execution.
