Financial Accountant

The Financial Accountant position encompasses maintaining monthly journals, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT and Tax Returns and SOX controls from TB to AFS including internal and external reporting for the group of companies in IFRS and USGAAP. Typical Competencies Required: Matric with Accounting HG Relevant tertiary qualification or in advanced phase of finalising qualification At least ten years’ experience in full function accounting to AFS including group consolidations Articles Advantageous (SAICA / SAIPA / CIMA) Computer literacy including Microsoft Office 365 and BaaN / SAP Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail Highly accurate and deadline driven Strong administration skills Own transport Code 8 drivers licence Performance Areas Reconciliations: To reconcile all balance sheet accounts and investigate and report variances monthly before the RPM deadline Complete all balance sheet reconciliations Submit file for review Upload reviewed file to Citrix Reconcile foreign supplier statements, invoices and booked FEC payments. Reconcile vat returns to assessments and statement of accounts obtained from SARS and Inland Revenue Maintain record of contractual obligations Request and maintain DTI certificates for royalty agreements Request and assist in audit of royalty agreements Request and process royalty payments per contractual obligations Reconcile royalty and rebate liabilities Reconcile VIP to BaaN monthly Obtain and reconcile petty cash confirmations Third Party Reporting: Perform Worldcheck searches for all new accounts Complete and submit all reports requested by the South African Reserve Bank Complete and submit all reports requested by STATS SA Complete and submit annual duties Monthly Journals: Processing month end journals as per month end checklist Please consider your application unsuccessful should you not receive a response from our Recruitment Consultants within two weeks of applying for the position.
