Job Description

Electrical Engineer – Naval Projects Southwest Netherlands Design the power behind Europe’s most advanced naval ships. Our client, a leading Dutch shipbuilder in the defence sector, is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on state-of-the-art naval vessels. From high-capacity power distribution to electromagnetic compliance, you'll engineer the systems that keep critical operations running — even under extreme conditions. What you’ll do As Electrical Engineer , you’ll be responsible for designing safe, efficient, and compliant electrical systems from concept to commissioning. You’ll work within a model-based systems engineering environment and collaborate across disciplines to deliver real-world, combat-ready performance. Key responsibilities: Develop system designs for power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems, ensuring class compliance and customer requirements. Create and maintain functional descriptions, drawings, and specification documents. Calculate load balances and design EMC-compliant solutions (TEMPEST experience is a plus). Define and execute test and validation plans for simulations (virtual testing) and real-world environments (FAT, HAT, SAT). Manage input from vendors and subcontractors, reviewing and integrating their designs into the vessel. Contribute to standardization and documentation of engineering methods. Support proposal phases with conceptual electrical designs and commissioning activities. What you bring We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in complex environments and understands the critical role of electrical systems in mission-critical vessels. Requirements: 3 years of experience designing complex electrical systems (preferably in marine, offshore, or aerospace sectors). Strong background in high-power distribution, EMC compliance, and system reliability. Experience working in MBSE environments, following the V-model. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Experience working with multi-vendor, multidisciplinary projects. Fluent in English. Permanent EU citizenship and passport required due to project sensitivity. Able to pass pre-employment security screening.
