Job Description

Purpose of the Role: Responsible to manage and maintain the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, minimizing credit risk, and maintaining positive customer relationships. This involves monitoring customer credit, assessing creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and implementing effective credit control procedures to optimize cash flow and support business sustainability. Role: Credit Controller Location: Ottery - Western Cape Industry: Manufacturing Start Date : Immediate Qualification: Secondary Education Grade 12 Tertiary Education (including Diplomas, Certificates and Degrees) Tertiary qualification in Credit Control/ Management is strongly preferred Experience 5-8 years relevant experience Clear criminal record Competencies Knowledge Skills Ability to reconcile complex accounts. Software Office products and accounting software programmes. Administration skills. Good communication skills. Ability to act decisively and urgently. High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Calm, confident manner Assertiveness Ability to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations Attention to detail Other Special Requirements Passionate to progress a career in Finance for the future with an appreciation of the environment concerns and impacts. Demonstrates sound commercial judgment, making decisions that align with business objectives, within the scope of delegated authority and in accordance with established guidelines and instructions. Accountability Responsible for all activities linked to position as defined. Ensures that a structure for escalation of responsibility is effective. Communication Ensure transparent, responsive, and open communication between colleagues. Ensure an e-mail response within 24 hours Key Responsibilities: Submit request and interact with payment portals. Granting of credit to a customer, including liaising with credit bureaus. Customer account reconciliations and resolution of queries. Capture, monitor and follow up on goods returned notes to resolve credit note queries. Create pro forma invoices, capturing orders and processing receipts on the system in accordance with procedures. Considering, evaluating and posting credit notes. Identify payments in bank, allocate and post. Regular reporting on the status of the debtors book. Working closely with sales department. Timely collecting all money owed to the business by its customers. Managing late payments/ payment plans/ poor payers and on "on hold" customers. Provide supporting information for ad-hoc customer reviews, legal cases etc. Responsible for any SARB/ SARS requirements relating to exports Self Development and Growth: Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any in self or your team that hinders the fulfilment of your objectives.
