Special Education Assistant | About the Role As a Special Education Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and external professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, physical disabilities, or sensory impairments. Your role will be pivotal in helping students access the curriculum and succeed socially, emotionally, and academically. Special Education Assistant | Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 or small-group support tailored to the child’s individual learning needs Assist with implementing and adapting lesson plans and materials in line with the student’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and medical needs (where necessary) Encourage positive behaviour and implement strategies to manage behavioural challenges Promote inclusion and help pupils engage confidently with peers and staff Liaise with teachers, parents/carers, and multidisciplinary professionals Foster a positive, supportive, and empathetic learning environment Special Education Assistant | What We’re Looking For We’re seeking someone who is: Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure An excellent communicator , both verbal and written Flexible and adaptable , able to respond to different learning styles and needs A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Special Education Assistant | Qualifications and Experience Degree in relevant subject (Psychology, Primary Education and SEN) Relevant experience working with children with SEN in a school, care, or support setting (voluntary or paid) Desirable: NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent Training in behaviour management, autism awareness, or speech and language support is a bonus Special Education Assistant | Why Join Us?
