Consultant Histopathologist in The Midlands Job Details: Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum Contract: Full-time, 10 PAs (with flexibility for part-time applicants) About the Role We are seeking a Consultant Histopathologist to join our dedicated team. This is a general histopathology post, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests. The successful candidate will contribute to diagnostic reporting, multidisciplinary team meetings, teaching, and service development. Requirements Full registration and licence to practise with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Histopathology (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview). Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. FRCPath (part 1 and part 2). Typical Job Plan A standard job plan includes: 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week (8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA) Diagnostic reporting of surgical pathology and cytology specimens Participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings Supervision and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists Contribution to clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance Involvement in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students Support for digital pathology initiatives and service innovation About the Department: The Histopathology Department is a dynamic and forward-thinking unit, currently embracing digital pathology for primary diagnostics. The department provides a comprehensive diagnostic service across a wide range of specialties, including gastrointestinal, breast, dermatopathology, and gynaecological pathology. The team includes experienced consultants, biomedical scientists, and support staff, all committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
