Job Description
Industrial Engineer I – Labor Management The Industrial Engineer I – Labor Management is responsible for the setup and utilization of labor management tools and techniques across the distribution network to increase labor productivity. This includes the development of best practices for warehouse processes, engineering standards, and the use of information to inform and motivate operations leaders to improve warehouse productivity. Job Duties: Establishes labor standards or reasonable expectations and maintains a labor management system (RedPrairie) to ensure accurate target times for warehouse tasks. Identifies savings opportunities and defines process improvement projects to reduce operational costs. Creates and maintains informative reports and charts that can be used by field operations to drive labor productivity. Works with warehouse operations teams to educate them on how the standards work and how to use labor management information to increase productivity. Participates in the implementation of new business initiatives by assisting the initiative owner with data collection and analyzing the initiatives to anticipate potential roadblocks and identify possible solutions. Conducts root cause analysis and develops data analysis tools, such as labor planning, slotting assignments, etc., to assist operations management. Travels up to 50% of the time. Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field from a 3-year accredited college or university. Internship experience is preferred. Knowledge of WMS Experience in warehouses and storage processes Intermediate to Advanced English Essential Skills: Ability to understand job descriptions and use time measurement devices to estimate how long tasks should take. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively communicate technical and process concepts to a variety of audiences, from entry-level warehouse employees to executive levels. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and speak. The employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to ambient lighting and mild weather conditions
