Role Overview We are seeking a confident and experienced Technical Manager to take responsibility for the flowers and plants category, with a particular focus on managing our relationship with clients. This is a pivotal, customer facing role that combines hands on technical oversight with strategic supplier and client liaison. Key Responsibilities Lead the account for flowers/plants, ensuring technical excellence and compliance across all SKUs. Manage quality specifications, data integrity, and legal compliance through spec systems. Conduct internal projects including international travel, transit trials, and spec work. Oversee on-site technical staff and ensure all product standards are met or exceeded. Collaborate with suppliers and major UK retailers to deliver category-leading products. Apply data analysis to identify and resolve issues, improve efficiencies, and support customer satisfaction. Represent the company in customer-facing meetings and communications, confidently handling challenges and providing solutions. Ideal Candidate Profile Experience: In a technical, compliance, or quality role within FMCG, fresh produce or horticulture (flowers/plants preferred). Background: Previous exposure to major UK retailers, someone familiar with their systems and culture. Personality: Self assured, proactive, with the confidence to push back and problem-solve with high accountability. Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of SMETA audits, spec systems, and BRC standards. Analytical Mindset: Detail oriented with the ability to interpret technical data, identify trends, and take corrective action. Desirable Qualifications & Tools Degree in Food Science, Horticulture, Agriculture or related discipline (e.g., Harper Adams alumni). Familiarity with Product Number (PN) system.
