Job Description
Job Purpose: To assist the procurement department with sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services related to civil construction projects. The Junior Buyer will support the buying process, ensure timeous and cost-effective procurement while maintaining strong supplier relationships. Minimum Requirements: Matric (Grade 12) A diploma/qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field (advantageous) 2-3 years' experience as a Buyer or Junior Buyer in the civil construction industry (essential) Knowledge of civil construction materials and processes Strong negotiation and communication skills Excellent organisational and administrative abilities Computer literate (MS Office and relevant procurement software) Valid driver's licence (advantageous) Key Responsibilities: Source and evaluate suppliers of civil construction materials and services Request and compare quotations based on project specifications Place and follow up on purchase orders Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation Build and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors Assist with supplier performance evaluations Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures Provide regular updates to the procurement and site teams
