Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Rate Expectation: £40 - £50 per hour Inside IR35 Hybrid in Dundee, a minimum of 3 days in the office. 12 months contract A key requirement is previous experience leading a mechanical design team preferably working on electro/mechanical systems operating under S/W control. S/W Controls are single channel controllers for battery operated toys and appliances Managing of Fault tolerance in media handling system; Building systems that can withstand failures and continue to function properly. This is crucial in scenarios where media processing is time-sensitive or where data integrity is paramount, like in broadcasting, video editing, or cloud storage. The end use of the product, the media handling devices, are used in self-service products (Auto-Teller Machines for the Banking Industry). Requirements A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred). • Strong understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies. Minimum 10 years’ experience developing or supporting complex mechanical products such asHigh speed, document feeding, transportation, sorting & stacking mechanisms. Autonomous, fault tolerant media handling systems under the impact of climatic variations. • Expert CAD Skills (ProE/Creo or Solidworks) • A good understanding of mechanical drive systems • Ability to co-ordinate multiple projects simultaneously • Drawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experience • Stress and Tolerance analysis experience • Design of Mechanisms experience would be an advantage • Experience with Rapid prototyping technologies • Experience performance metrics to identify and implement data driven improvements • A customer focused attitude and a sense of urgency around all activities • Sets high work standards for the team to follow and be an excellent communicator
