Job Description

Global Highlandlooking to support their client in the sourcing of an experienced and motivated Technical Officerto join their team. Youll play a key role in ensuring their homes are safe, efficient, and ready for new tenantsmaintained to the highest standards and in line with regulatory and compliance requirements. What Youll Be Doing: Coordinating and inspecting repairs and void works across our clients homes and properties Ensuring timely completion of works to a high standard, providing value for money Carrying out inspections, diagnosing building defects, and preparing reports Supporting the delivery of planned maintenance and stock condition surveys Monitoring and managing contractor performance and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation Recording tenant interactions and property data using internal systems (Civica CX, Asprey) Supporting tenants with property-related issues such as damp and mould, ensuring a responsive and customer-focused service What Were Looking For: Educated and experienced in a construction or building-related discipline Trade qualification or equivalent construction-related certification Minimum of 3 years experience in a construction or maintenance environment Proven experience in building inspections and diagnosing defects Experience contributing to housing maintenance and repairs programmes Background in delivering high-quality, customer-focused services Essential Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of building technology, contracts, drawings, and specifications Excellent organisational and time management skills High standard of written communication and report writing Proficient in Microsoft 365 and cloud-based applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) Confident working independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams Understanding of health and safety legislation, including CDM Ability to prioritise a diverse workload and meet tight deadlines Strong financial awareness, including budget preparation and cost control Knowledge of SHQS, EESSH, and regulatory frameworks within housing Personal Attributes: Professional, confident, and calm under pressure Strong attention to detail with disciplined record-keeping Pragmatic problem solver with negotiation and influencing skills Committed to good governance and continuous improvement Passionate about Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards Flexible approach to working hours and duties Full UK driving licence with ability to travel across the Highlands Desirable Criteria: HNC or HND in a relevant subject Professional membership of a construction or housing-related industry body Additional housing-related qualifications Knowledge of Scottish social housing regulation and planning requirements Experience in the social housing sector, particularly in repairs and voids Understanding of building regulations, planning, SHQS, EESSH, and CDM regulations Capable of motivating contractors and teams A genuine interest in housing and community development If you are interested in discussing the above whether that's on a temporary or permanent basis please contact Lyndsey at Global Highland for a confidential conversation.
