Lead Quality Engineer

Role: Lead Quality Engineer Client: BAE Systems Submarines Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid – Mostly based on Supplier sites) Contract: 12-month contract, 37 hours per week Hourly Rate: £65.19 UMBRELLA (INSIDE IR35) ~ £480pd About the role BAE Systems is seeking a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to support our submarine programmes. This hybrid role is primarily based at supplier sites, with approximately two days per week onsite in Barrow-in-Furness. We welcome candidates who are flexible and open to regional travel. Key responsibilities Manage supplier quality, with a strong focus on problem solving and corrective actions. Lead the resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and customer complaints. Drive corrective action requests (CARs), CAPA and RCCA processes. Act as the main point of contact between BAE and suppliers, building and maintaining strong relationships. Work closely with mechanical and electrical suppliers across a wide range of submarine equipment. Skills and experience Background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering preferred; candidates from other industries (e.g., pharmaceuticals) also considered. Strong problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools such as: 8D Ishikawa 5 Whys DMAIC (desirable) Experience managing supplier relationships and leading resolution of quality issues.
