Job Description

Senior Category Manager Glasgow Permanent £55,000 (market leading benefits and progression plans) Role Overview Morgan Hunt are seeking an experienced and professional Senior Category Manager on behalf of our Public Sector client on a full time and permanent basis. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic procurement plans that ensure value for money, meet organisational needs, and align with current market conditions and frameworks. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring procurement activities support business goals, improve service delivery, and are regularly reviewed through effective stakeholder engagement. Lead and manage procurement processes professionally, ensuring compliance with legislation, optimising tender outcomes, and meeting cost-saving and efficiency targets. Apply advanced negotiation and contract management skills to secure the best commercial outcomes, deliver measurable community benefits, and advise on complex procurement matters. Promote collaborative procurement initiatives both within the Group and with external partners, considering opportunities for joint working and innovative contracting approaches. Implement supplier relationship management strategies for high-value contracts, including performance reviews, regular engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure governance, compliance, and ethical practice across all procurement activity, aligning with internal policies, legal requirements, and the Group’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Qualifications and Experience Proven ability to develop and implement procurement strategies, frameworks, and commercial contracts that align with organisational policy and deliver measurable value. Strong commercial acumen, with effective negotiation, influencing, and supplier relationship management skills, and a track record of successful contract awards. Sound knowledge of procurement legislation, market trends, products and services, with the ability to assess and respond to external developments. Excellent communication, customer service, and analytical skills, including report writing, numerical ability, and proficiency in relevant IT systems.
