Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid state nursing license required (pending licenses accepted) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic experience Description: This is a 12-bed unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at the intermediate level. Common patient populations include patients transferring from neuro-intensive care. This unit cares for patients who have experienced neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intraventricular hemorrhage, and intracerebral hemorrhage. Other patients include those with head and neck cancers who have undergone tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients, and a wide range of neurological problems. The patient ratio is 1:3. This position requires the nurse to work nights every other weekend and every other holiday. The role includes responsibilities such as aneurysm repair, arterial line management, blood product administration, craniotomy, and care for patients with cerebrovascular accidents. Nurses must be proficient in intravenous insulin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, and telemetric monitoring. Experience with neuro stepdown care is essential. The unit benefits from interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates will be asked to float within their scope of practice when needed. Verifiable references are required for submission. Nursys verification will be necessary for application completion.
