Job Description
SHEQ Manager £40,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience and qualifications) Full-Time | Permanent | Lincoln-Based (Hybrid and Other Locations Considered) Join one of the UK’s most progressive archaeological contractors and lead the development of a proactive, future-facing SHEQ function. Network Archaeology delivers archaeological and heritage services across major infrastructure projects – from roads and rail to renewable energy, utilities, and carbon capture. We’re people-focused, safety-driven, and environmentally conscious, with a strong presence across the UK and growing links in Germany. We’re looking for a dynamic, hands-on SHEQ Manager to lead on all matters relating to health, safety, environmental performance, and quality assurance across our offices and fieldwork operations. This is a strategic and operational leadership role – you'll work closely with the Board, project teams, and resourcing colleagues to embed best practice, support our staff, and ensure compliance with legislation and our IMS. What You’ll Do · Lead and evolve our Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 · Draft and deliver project-level SHEQ documentation (RAMS, safety plans, audits) across the UK and beyond · Monitor compliance across our sites and offices, investigating incidents, reporting outcomes, and leading improvements · Drive accreditation and audit readiness (ISO, Achilles, CHAS, etc.) · Train, mentor, and communicate SHEQ principles across the business – including toolbox talks, staff briefings, and inductions · Support bids and tenders with strategic SHEQ input · Promote a culture of wellbeing, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility What You Bring Essential: · TechIOSH minimum; ideally CertIOSH/CMIOSH · Proven experience in SHEQ roles in the construction, infrastructure, or related industries · Strong understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and SHEQ legal requirements · Demonstrable ability to conduct audits, investigations, and implement root-cause improvements · Confident communicator and team leader; skilled in training and influencing diverse teams · Proficient in MS Office and capable of managing a time-sensitive, mobile workload · Full clean UK driving licence Desirable: · Internal Auditor qualification, AIEMA, SMSTS, CSCS · Interest in archaeology or cultural heritage · CIfA membership (supported by us after qualifying period) What We Offer · Competitive salary with progression based on performance · 31 days annual leave (pro rata) with service-based increases · Paid sick leave, company pension, and life cover · BUPA Employee Assistance Programme · Mental health champions across the company · Optional “Take Two” career break scheme (after qualifying period) · Annual leave purchase scheme · Full support for relevant professional memberships (CIfA etc.) Location & Culture Our central office is in Lincoln – a vibrant, historic, and affordable cathedral city with excellent schools, universities, transport links, and easy access to the Lincolnshire Wolds and coastline.
