Principal Scientist in Drug Discovery

*This is a contract position* *9 Month Maternity Cover* To oversee drug discovery projects aimed at finding and creating novel treatments across early-stage pipelines, we are looking for a Principal Scientist with experience and creativity. In order to manage multidisciplinary research teams, advance our scientific strategy, and convert preclinical findings into clinical candidates, this senior-level position is essential. Driving hypothesis-driven research and working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, DMPK, toxicology, and translational sciences, are key responsibilities of a key scientific leader. What you'll be doing with us: Create and carry out project plans for several phases of drug discovery, from candidate nomination to target validation. Offer professional advice on hit-to-lead, lead optimization, and target selection. Participate in the therapeutic field's scientific vision and roadmap. Act as a scientific advisor or project manager for drug discovery initiatives. Work together with cross-functional groups from clinical development, chemistry, biology, and bioinformatics. Assure adherence to deadlines, quality standards, and strategic goals. Encourage a cooperative and productive research environment while mentoring young scientists. Examine the experimental design, solve challenging issues, and encourage the team's scientific development. Keep up with new developments in drug discovery science, technology, and methodology. Attend scientific conferences on behalf of the company and keep up good relations. What we need from your profile: PhD in medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a similar area. 8 years of relevant work experience in the drug discovery field, in small molecules Demonstrated ability to move programs from target validation to IND enabling. Thorough knowledge of disease mechanisms, target biology, and drug modality selection. Familiarity with overseeing external collaborations and cross-functional teams. Strong track record of publications and/or contributions to intellectual property. Proficiency in neuroscience, immunology, or metabolic disorders, among other fields. *Only contract candidates as this is a Maternity Cover*
