Job Description

An innovative early-stage cleantech company is seeking a Director of Project Execution to lead the successful delivery of its first-of-a-kind (FOAK) hydrogen production facilities. The company is pioneering a novel process to produce low-cost, low-emissions hydrogen and solid carbon. This role will be critical in scaling the company’s pilot and commercial systems and directly supports its mission to accelerate global decarbonization efforts. Key Responsibilities Lead all aspects of planning, permitting, construction, commissioning, and field deployment of the company’s clean hydrogen production units. Drive the execution of the pilot facility and future commercial deployments, ensuring key performance and safety milestones are met. Collaborate with engineering, operations, partners, and contractors to ensure project success. Optimize plant performance and contribute to the generation of intellectual property for ongoing technology protection. Oversee the full deployment lifecycle from conceptual design to full operational readiness. Direct engineering activities including preparation of process diagrams, technical specifications, mass and energy balances, and control system architecture. Provide senior-level technical input and mentorship to cross-functional teams. Ensure compliance with industrial codes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s). 15 years’ industry experience, with 10 years in leadership roles within industrial thermal, chemical, or clean technology projects. Professional Engineering license Demonstrated success managing large industrial construction and commissioning projects (from FEED through to operational deployment). Hands-on experience with pre-commercial/pilot plant builds, including permitting, assembly, and working with EPCs. Strong familiarity with pyrolysis, gasification, or related thermal conversion technologies. Proficient in reading and producing CAD, P&IDs, and process documentation. Deep understanding of thermodynamics, combustion processes, and fluid dynamics. Strong communication, team leadership, and project management skills. Desired Skills & Experience Hands-on experience with flammable gases, high-pressure combustion systems, and instrumentation. Background in process control systems (DCS, PLC, HMI) including programming and diagnostics. Familiarity with CAD tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar. Experience in electrical systems (both low and high voltage). Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment with a high level of technical complexity.
