Local Contract Respiratory Therapist - $49-51 per hour

Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a local contract Respiratory Therapist for a local contract job in Newark, Ohio. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Respiratory Therapist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Local Contract Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift (3x12) Location: Newark, OH Shift: Nights – 3x12-hour shifts per week Contract Length: 13 weeks (possible extension) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist (RT) delivers high-quality patient care in both critical and routine settings, including patient transport in and out of the facility. This role involves evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, performing respiratory therapies, and educating patients and families. Key Responsibilities Evaluate patients and recommend individualized respiratory treatment plans. Administer prescribed treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, humidification, and ventilation support (invasive & non-invasive). Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oral, nasal, tracheal), oximetry, and capnography monitoring. Interpret chest X-rays and perform pulmonary function testing (NIF, VC). Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement. Perform tracheostomy care, including tube insertion/removal (emergent & non-emergent). Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs). Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot various ventilator systems. Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS & ACLS). Insert and remove endotracheal tubes (manual & video-assisted). Document all treatments, patient responses, and ventilator settings per policy. Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members. Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry. Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs/preventative maintenance. Qualifications Education & Certification: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Current Respiratory Therapist license (state-specific). BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred. Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred; critical care experience strongly desired. Proficiency in mechanical ventilation, airway management, and diagnostic respiratory procedures. Skills & Abilities: Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently and handle emergencies effectively. Competence in patient education and family communication. Work Environment Acute care hospital setting; direct patient contact in critical and non-critical care areas. Physical demands include frequent standing/walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in high-stress situations.
