Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pricing Actuary (or similar actuarial analyst) to join a high-performing London Market insurer on a 12 month fixed-term contract basis. This role will focus on the development and delivery of updated Excel-based pricing models , ready for handover to third-party platform developers.Working closely with underwriters and the wider actuarial pricing team, you’ll ensure models are technically robust, commercially relevant, and aligned with best practice. You’ll also contribute to ongoing pricing support and portfolio analysis across a range of specialty lines, including Marine, Political Violence, and Energy. Key Responsibilities Develop and enhance Excel-based pricing models in line with internal standards Engage with underwriters to test and validate models before external implementation Support model recalibration, MI development, and improvements in pricing tools Deliver account-level pricing and underwriter support during broker negotiations Assist in portfolio monitoring and performance reviews Explore and introduce new techniques in pricing, visualisation, and analytics Collaborate with actuarial colleagues to share insights and develop best practices Requirements Proven experience in general insurance pricing (London Market or specialty lines ideal) Strong technical model development background in Excel/VBA Familiarity with classes such as Marine, Energy, or Political Violence (desirable) Working knowledge of R or Python, and SQL Experience using Power BI for dashboards and reporting Strong interpersonal skills and commercial acumen Degree in Maths or related subject (2.1 or above) and FIA qualification
