Trainee Buyer

Job Title: Trainee Buyer (Progression to Quantity Surveyor) Location: Letchworth Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Monday to Friday – office-based, with one college day per week if applicable) Salary: National Minimum Wage (negotiable depending on experience) About the Role We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Buyer to join our team at our Letchworth office. This is a unique opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is eager to learn and develop within the construction industry. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in procurement, supplier management, and project support, while working towards professional qualifications. After two years in Buying, you will have a clear progression pathway into our Quantity Surveying department with structured training and support provided. Key Responsibilities * Place and manage orders for construction materials. * Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve queries. * Provide administrative and procurement support to colleagues across live projects. * Maintain accurate records of orders and supplier communications. * Develop an understanding of procurement processes, project requirements, and cost management. Career Pathway * Years 1–2: Build strong foundations in Buying and Procurement. * Progression: Transition into our Quantity Surveying department with full training and support. * Qualifications: Opportunity to work towards a degree-level qualification without the burden of student debt.
