Senior Materials Buyer - Residential Construction

Materials Buyer Location: O, Oxfordshire (with site visits across the South East) We are seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to join a busy Commercial team. This is a key role responsible for the procurement of materials across multiple developments, ensuring projects are delivered on budget, on time, and to a high standard of quality. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in construction procurement within residential development, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships. Key Responsibilities * Procurement Management – Source, negotiate, and purchase construction materials and plant for 4–5 live residential developments. * Supplier & Cost Control – Build and manage supplier relationships, securing competitive pricing, reliable deliveries, and quality standards. * Site Coordination – Work closely with project teams to align procurement with build programmes, ensuring smooth progress and avoiding delays. * Budget Oversight – Monitor spend, track variations, and identify cost-saving opportunities. * Compliance & Records – Maintain accurate procurement records, ensuring orders meet specifications and contractual compliance. * Continuous Improvement – Research and introduce new suppliers, materials, and more efficient procurement practices. About You * Residential construction procurement experience – essential. * Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, quality, and efficiency. * Highly organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple live sites. * Skilled negotiator with proven supplier management experience. * Proficient in procurement software (COINS experience highly desirable) and Microsoft Office. * Strong communicator and team player with a proactive, solutions-focused approach. * Based within Berkshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, or Surrey
