The position involves providing care for adult patients only. Candidates must have a minimum of two years experience in MS/Telemetry. Experience should include various patient diagnoses such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, and general medicine. The unit accommodates surgical cases, as well as a large orthopedic program. Travelers will not be expected to care for pediatric patients. Nurses will float within equivalent or lower-level acuity units as required. The average daily census is about 30 patients with a staffing ratio of 1:5. Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, patient lifts, chest tubes, and PCA pumps. Weekend coverage is required, with a commitment of 6 shifts within a 6-week contract period. Candidates should possess skills in accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care, and management of chest tubes. Experience with high-flow nasal cannula and telemetry monitoring is also essential.
