Site Engineer

Site Engineer – Highways Location: Birmingham Rate: £350 – £480 per day (DOE) Contract Length: 12 months Start Date: ASAP We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major highways infrastructure project in Birmingham. This is a long-term opportunity offering excellent day rates and the chance to work on a high-profile scheme with a well-established delivery team. Key Responsibilities: * Overseeing site activities across roadworks, drainage, ducting, earthworks, and kerbing * Setting out using GPS and total station equipment (Leica/Trimble) * Interpreting design drawings and specifications * Supporting and managing subcontractors on site * Maintaining quality assurance documentation and carrying out as-built surveys * Ensuring all works are carried out safely and in line with the programme * Reporting to the Section Engineer or Site Manager Requirements: * Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways or large civil infrastructure projects * Strong knowledge of setting out and surveying * Proficient with GPS and robotic total station equipment * CSCS card (essential) * SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred) * HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline * Excellent communication and organisational skills What’s on Offer: * Competitive day rate: £350 – £480 DOE * Long-term freelance contract: 12 months minimum * Work with a Tier 1 contractor on a major highways scheme * Opportunity for extension or further work on future packages
