Heriot Brown is supporting a fast-growing, listed fintech pensions provider with the appointment of a Senior Legal Counsel. This is a chance to join a small, high-impact legal team at a mission-driven company reshaping how people manage their retirement savings. The role Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, you’ll support continued growth and regulatory responsibilities with exposure at Board and Executive level. You will: Ensure compliance with UK pensions law and regulation, partnering with Compliance and Risk. Handle complex customer matters (e.g. death benefits, complaints, FOS/POS). Manage pensions/consumer litigation. Support the CLO/GC on committees, governance, commercial negotiations, and deputise when required. Develop policies, practices, and precedents to strengthen compliance and operations. About you UK-qualified solicitor with experience across some of: UK DC pensions (death benefits, PSOs, KYC/AML, HMRC guidance, ITEPA). Inheritance/guardianship/family law aspects of pensions. Financial services regulation (ideally pensions/FCA; DWP/TPR exposure welcome). Consumer Duty and consumer protection. Data protection (UK GDPR/ITEPA) and privacy. General commercial contracts. You also bring: Excellent drafting and communication, simplifying complex issues for non-legal teams. A proactive, problem-solving approach beyond strictly legal work.
