Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Reporting to the Commercial Manager or Regional Commercial Director, the Senior Quantity Surveyor leads the commercial function across assigned projects, ensuring robust financial and contractual oversight. Key Responsibilities Commercial Leadership & Strategy Lead the commercial team with confidence and minimal oversight. Ensure accurate monthly valuations, forecasts, and reconciliations. Drive dispute resolution and risk/opportunity profiling. Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams to support project success. Monitor market trends to enhance commercial outcomes. Stakeholder & Supplier Management Develop and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring performance and compliance. Provide expert support in dispute resolution. Keep senior leadership informed of key communications and strategic developments. Cost Management & Reporting Deliver post-award commercial services through to final account. Set and manage project budgets, ensuring accuracy and accountability. Support cost planning, benchmarking, and forecasting. Analyse performance data and prepare monthly reports. Identify opportunities for cost improvement and efficiency. Change Control Oversee budget and variation/change control processes. Maintain accurate financial impact assessments and project data. Procurement Collaborate on procurement strategy and execution. Manage subcontractor and supplier negotiations, payments, and administration. Approve payment certificates and track financial impacts. Contract Compliance & Risk Ensure governance and compliance across all commercial activities. Identify and mitigate cost risks while maximising opportunities. Support contract performance and ensure robust terms are in place. Maintain accurate reporting and contingency tracking. Skills & Expertise Proven experience in complex construction projects with strong contract and supply chain management. Advanced analytical and communication skills. Confident, self-directed leadership with team mentoring experience. Proficient in relevant software and reporting tools. MRICS qualified or actively working towards accreditation.
