Job Title: Optimization Functional Test SME Location: Wokingham (Hybrid 3 days onsite per week) Contract Type: 6-Month Contract (with potential extension) Day Rate: £425 (Inside IR35) About the Role We are seeking an Optimization Functional Test SME to play a pivotal role in the electricity system operator balancing program. This position will involve close collaboration with business stakeholders, QA teams, and developers to support testing and development of a modern dispatch optimisation algorithm. Key Responsibilities Work with project and customer teams on the Dispatch Algorithm within Balancing Transformation programs. Support Quality Assurance and development of modern optimisation algorithms. Coordinate with functional teams and business users to review and test scenarios. Perform exploratory testing, identify defects, and document observations. Contribute to the development of requirement tools and automation for algorithm testing. About You You will bring expertise in optimisation and testing, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Essential experience includes: Proven experience solving optimisation problems using a range of techniques. Ability to develop custom data models and algorithms for large datasets. Strong understanding of mathematical programming solvers (LP, QP, MIP, MILP, MIQP, MIQCP). Knowledge of data collection, preprocessing, and analysis. Proficiency in statistical computer languages (Python, etc.) to manipulate data and derive insights. Experience with Python and Gurobi Optimizer.
