Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Ecologist for a long term contract role, to work on site on behalf of our client, a major engineering contractor operating within the energy sector on a Decommissioning & Carbon Capture and Storage project. As Ecological Clerk of Works you will be part of the QHSE department within the Environmental team. You will support, oversee, and monitor the Construction Contractor with the implementation of measures defined within the OCEMP. You will ensure pre-construction surveys are undertaken and any advance mitigation measures required are implemented. The Role: Provide ecological advice to the Construction Contractor over the entire construction program Undertake or oversee pre-construction surveys for protected species in the areas affected by the TCPA Proposed Development. Monitor ecological conditions during the Construction Stage to identify additional constraints that may arise as a result of natural changes to ecological baseline over time (e.g. the monitoring of badger activity within and in close proximity to construction works). Provide ecological toolbox talks to site personnel (including ecological receptors) to make them aware of ecological constraints and information. Highlight mitigation to minimize impacts and make site personnel aware of their responsibility with regards to wildlife and sensitive habitats in the context of legislation and policy. Monitor the implementation of mitigation measures during the Construction Stage to ensure compliance with protected species legislation, licensing, and commitments within the ES Deliver coherent and timely solutions to ecological constraints. Requirements: BEng or BSc majoring in ecology or environment sciences or similar 10 years in ecological activities preferably for an Oil & Gas project with environmental challenges Knowledge of UK and/or Welsh environmental legislation, habitat and protected species ecology Membership of the CIEEM and/or of the AEECoW or working towards it UK driving licence Job Details: Start date: ASAP Duration: 12 months Full time contract role - outside IR35 Location: North Wales Working hours: 5 days per week plus Saturday mornings as required Rate: Negotiable All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
