Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years RN inpatient experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Two years of acute care RN experience Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are essential aspects of this role. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice is important. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Utilizing the caring processes of a recognized model of care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Focusing on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction is crucial. The RN applies education and professional experiences to deliver quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff is a valued responsibility of the RN. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments according to policy and procedure. Demonstrating the ability to make sound independent decisions is expected. Initiating, prioritizing, and implementing the plan of care is essential. Collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services is necessary. Resources should be utilized appropriately to support the needs of patients and families. Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions is part of the evaluation process. Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs is required. Delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel is part of the leadership role. Functioning as a mentor and preceptor while encouraging teamwork is expected. Identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement is key. Participation in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts is important. Compliance with regulatory standards is required. Active participation in a practice governance model is expected.
