Job Description

Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/or ENPC Certification Required - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification Required Description: Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data. Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Develop and implement patient plans of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including but not limited to IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Provide patient and family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and abilities. Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care, based on respect for preferences, values, and needs. Deliver relationship-based care that strives to understand what is most important to the individual and actively engage them in all aspects of care. Provide care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience. Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with state board of nursing and hospital policy. Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. Utilize standards of care, hospital policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice. Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning. Evaluate one's own integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards, guidelines, and relevant statutes. Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. Demonstrate a commitment to the organization through ongoing participation in hospital and unit-based meetings. Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data. Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and safe delivery of care. Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. Utilize current healthcare research findings to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
