Based in Bury, Manchester, the site operates on a large scale and offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment for engineering professionals. Your new role As the Lead Shift Engineer, you will take a hands-on leadership role within the Engineering team, managing and mentoring a team of three Shift Engineers. Working on a 4-on-4-off rotating day and night shift pattern, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of engineering operations, supporting production, and driving plant efficiency.You'll coordinate daily maintenance activities, manage engineering schedules, and lead by example on the shop floor. Your role will also involve overseeing contractors, supporting project work, and ensuring compliance with health & safety and food safety standards. You'll act as the key link between engineering and production, attending daily meetings and deputising for the Engineering Manager when required. What you'll need to succeed A recognised engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical). Proven experience in a similar hands-on engineering leadership role. Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities. Experience using CMMS systems to manage and track maintenance tasks. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
