The Role Join United Utilities as a Rainwater Management Graduate and play a key part in building a stronger, greener and healthier North West. We are a team that is passionate about the environment and managing rainwater and through this role you will be able to drive the changes needed to support our goals. You will be joining the team at a pivotal moment, working on and influencing multi-million-pound programmes, including the Advanced WINEP and Climate Resilience, to deliver greener, resilient, nature-based solutions for managing rainwater across the North West. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from our specialist Rainwater Management team, where you will develop and refine your skills in strategic planning, technical feasibility, project management and delivery. You will be helping with the development and delivery of rainwater management schemes (e.g. Sustainable Drainage Systems, Natural Flood Management) across the North West. As part of this, your work will include: Carrying out feasibility assessments and data analysis with tools such as GIS (ArcMap, QGIS) and Alteryx. Writing business plans and technical reports. Attending a range of meetings and working groups. Visiting sites for rainwater management schemes and assessing them for opportunities, risks and constraints. Developing good rapport with all stakeholders, both within United Utilities and externally, such as contractors, statutory bodies, environmental charities and customers. Presenting high quality outputs to stakeholders through the use of PowerPoint and dashboards. And much more! You will also have numerous opportunities for CPD development, including specialist training activities, attending conferences, webinars, volunteering days and more. What do I need to be successful? We are looking for someone with a strong willingness to learn and interest in professional growth, with an open mindset to new greener ways of working. We require our graduates to have a minimum 2:1 degree. Subjects that we are most interested in include STEM, Environmental, Sustainability, Geography, Architecture, Town or Development Planning or similar. You will need excellent report writing skills and have experience using GIS and/or alternative analytical tools, such as coding or Alteryx. You will also need: Great team-working skills – demonstrate the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, valuing the contribution of others. Strong communication – present technical information to various audiences including non-technical, which is key to stakeholder/ cross-disciplinary engagement. Excellent time management – work under pressure towards deadlines and adapt to change when new priorities come in. Creative problem solving – challenge traditional ways of working and find creative but practical solutions to overcome problems.
