Engagement Officer Tir Canol Reference: SEP20251443 Location: RSPB Ynys-hir, nr Machynlleth SY20 Travel Contract: Fixed-term for 2.5 years Hours: Part-time,22.5 hours per week Salary: £27,123.00 - £28,956.00 Pro Rata Benefits: Pension Scheme, Life Assurance Scheme, 26 days' Annual Leave This is a dedicated engagement role working in the Tir Canol team, focusing on connecting people and organisations and supporting them to participate in the Cynnal project hosted by RSPB and supported by Esmée Fairbairn. Tir Canol is a community focused project, designing and providing positive outcomes for nature and people through the use of land and sea. It is located in mid-Wales, roughly between the rivers Dyfi and Rheidol. The community aims to collaborate on conservation efforts, including land and sea management, and has initiated projects like crop trials to enhance local food systems and support biodiversity alongside an artist in residency programme. We are working at the forefront of local flood management research, supporting communities in the Dyfi estuary. The role requires regular events and travel around the Tir Canol area. We are looking for an Engagement Officer based geographically in or near one of these locations; within the Dyfi Biosphere, Aberystwyth, Cwm Rheidol, or the upper Cambrian Mountains (north of the Rheidol valley). The candidate will need a full driving licence that is valid in the UK and access to their own vehicle. This role is key to supporting the Tir Canol programme manager, and the successful candidate will work alongside our Nature Officer, partners and wider stakeholders to engage with our communities and communicate key information about our programme. Essential skills, knowledge and experience: Educated to GCSE level or higher or equivalent Knowledge of the theory and practice of delivering a project. Experience in co-production and collaborative working practices. Experience in delivering communication and engagement strategies. Competent IT user (e.g. MS packages, Outlook etc). The ability to communicate about the project passionately. An ability to produce clear written communications and report writing. Proficient in Welsh, with the ability to communicate effectively in Welsh at all levels. Desirable skills, knowledge and experience: Facilitation skills Experience in design and marketing, particularly trends in social media and communications. Additional Information: This is a fixed-tern role for 2.5 years, part-time for 22.5 hours per week. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
