Pharmacy Assistant ( Job Number: 25006257 ) Primary Location : ON-Markham Pharma Employee Type : Casual Description : JOB SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist or designate, the Pharmacy Assistant (PA) works under the guidance of the Pharmacist or designate to prepare medication compounding. While maintaining model standard of sterile Compounding, the PA may help prepare medications, complete sterile compounding of medication, and maintains the compounding area and equipment, and monitor inventory. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain model standard of sterile Compounding! Perform housekeeping of the adjacent areas to the clean room (check, storage, change room & Lab) Perform stocking/restocking of medication and supplies as per SOPs. Follow the operational workflow and assigned tasks. Assist the Pharmacist in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps). Assist the pharmacist or designate in performing physical count of medication and supplies, as needed. Assist the pharmacist or designate in inventory management. Assists the Pharmacist or designate in preparing required infusion supplies for delivery of medication. Helps in Preparing sterile parenteral by obtaining required checks by Pharmacists or designate and appropriate assembly of drugs and supplies by matching codes and quantities from the compounding document, correct labelling of product, checking the final product for the absence of particulate matter and container integrity and ensuring compounding product gets matched to the right delivery just prior to shipping. Assists the Pharmacist or designate in preparing compounding sheets for the preparation of medication. Complete the daily, weekly, monthly, and occasional logs in timely manner. Assists the Pharmacist or designate in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law. Assists the Pharmacist or designate in packing the sterile medication. Assists the Pharmacist or designate in stocking the products in Warehouse cages Assists the pharmacist or designate in maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Prepares sales orders, communicate with clients regarding the orders and work on appropriate documentation relating to sales orders. Handles client emails in a timely manner. Works alongside the automation team to maintain the daily automation of assembling orders. Assists in maintaining warehouse cages organized. Performs data entry to track drug lot numbers as required. Maintains records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records. Helps the pharmacist or designate in placing Orders. Helps the pharmacist or designate in receiving Orders. Helps the pharmacist or designate in storing medications and supplies. Helps the pharmacist or designate in reporting incidents. Helps the pharmacist or designate in recording data from equipment. Helps the pharmacist or designate in processing sales. Coordinates with Logistics for shipping of orders Retain Anteroom standards through cleaning and disinfection protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications : QUALIFICATIONS Education Must be enrolled in Registered Pharmacy Assistant Program Certification as a Registered Pharmacy Assistant is preferred. Experience Pharmacy experience in community or hospital setting 1-2 years, IV admixture skill is preferred. Other Skills and Abilities Work in a sterile environment, following strict protocols, including disinfecting multiple times per day. This role is physical in nature. Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Lifting required of up to 50lbs Gowning protocol The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate Weekend and evening work may be required
