Buyer - Manufacturing/Engineering

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a global manufacturing business on the appointment of a Buyer. This is a full-time permanent position offering the successful candidate a chance to progress their procurement experience in one of Northern Ireland's most successful business sectors. As the Buyer , you will report to Category Managers and the Supply Chain Manager while collaborating with suppliers to support production and quality requirements, while identifying cost-reduction opportunities. Interpret and execute Sales & Operations Plans (S&OP). Manage a portfolio of suppliers, building and maintaining strong relationships. Lead tenders, resourcing initiatives, and cost-saving projects. Oversee implementation of cost-reduction projects. Provide monthly supplier forecasts based on the latest S&OP data. Continuously improve forecasting for long-lead items, optional parts, and kanban supply. Drive improvements in supplier performance and actively challenge lead times. Analyse stock levels in line with Excess & Obsolete (E&O) reports and recommend actions. Collaborate with suppliers to support production and quality requirements, while identifying cost-reduction opportunities. Manage supplier engineering change pricing, scheduling, and implementation ansd maintain accurate supplier pricing records. What you will need to succeed: Proficiency with MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Effective problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset. Intermediate-level Excel and strong MS Office knowledge. Desirable Knowledge of statistics, forecasting techniques, and their financial/operational impacts. Experience working within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
