Job Title: Plant Manager Location: Guanajuato, Mexico Reports To: CEO Department: Plant Company SCHERDEL Wiesauplast products are customer specific designed and high-performance injection molding and welding. The knowledge of tooling design and manufacturing, as well as extensive material expertise, qualifies the company as a technology benchmark in many cases where other suppliers fail. Since 2022, SCHERDEL Wiesauplast has become a member of the SCHERDEL group of companies. SCHERDEL develops and manufactures products based on springs for a large variety of industrial applications. Job Summary The role will cover full responsibility for the plant operation, including manufacturing, maintenance, industrial engineering, quality and project management, finance, human resources, and sales. There is a strong matrix relationship with headquarter functions at the SCHERDEL group US subsidiary, SCHERDEL Wiesauplast Germany, and sister plants. This role ensures that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The manager serves as a key link between the Mexico-based team, U.S. North America leadership and Matrix SCHERDEL Wiesauplast Germany, supporting cross-border collaboration and compliance with both U.S. and Mexican regulations. Key Responsibilities Production & Operations - Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with production schedules and quality standards. - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, scrap rates, and labor efficiency. - Ensure compliance with Mexican labor laws and environmental regulations, as well as U.S. corporate standards. Team Leadership - Manage and develop a team of Managers, supervisors, technicians, and operators. - Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. - Lead training initiatives and performance evaluations. Quality & Compliance - Maintain certifications such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 - Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions. - Ensure proper documentation and traceability of production processes. Cross-Border Coordination - Act as the primary liaison between the Guanajuato facility, U.S. headquarters and German Matrix - Facilitate bilingual communication and reporting. - Support audits and visits from U.S.-based leadership, German Matrix and customers. Maintenance & Equipment - Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs. - Ensure optimal performance of injection molding and production machines and related equipment. - Coordinate with engineering teams for process improvements and equipment upgrades. Budget & Reporting - Assist in budget planning and cost control. - Prepare operational reports and present metrics to corporate leadership. - Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing initiatives. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. - Minimum 5 years of experience in Plant, Deputy Plant or as an Operations Manager in automotive plastic mfg. - In-depth technical knowledge of the Plastic Injection molding process is essential. - Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal). - Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills in Mexico. - Experience with ERP systems and production planning tools. - Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. - Familiarity with automotive OEM standards and customer requirements. - Strong intercultural communication and team-building abilities. Preferred Skills - Experience in cross-border manufacturing environments. - Experience in working with a German owned company and speaking German is a plus. - Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. - Exp with high performing technical parts is preferred.
