Health & Social Care Teacher Location: Witham, Essex Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent (or Fixed‑term considered) Start Date: Immediate Start(or as soon as available) Salary: £30,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience, plus TLR or additional payments where applicable) About Us We are a mixed secondary school serving the Witham community, committed to academic excellence and personal development. The Role As Health & Social Care Teacher, you will: Plan, prepare, deliver and assess lessons in Health & Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4 and (if applicable) Post‑16 Teach vocational qualifications (e.g. BTEC, OCR, NCFE) and/or relevant GCSE / A‑Level modules Monitor student progress; intervene where necessary to support students to achieve their potential Design engaging and real‑world learning activities including visits, guest speakers, work placements Contribute to development of schemes of work, assessment strategies and subject resources Collaborate with colleagues across departments, support cross‑curricular links Promote positive behaviour and inclusive practices; support the welfare and pastoral needs of students Engage with parents, external agencies and stakeholders as required Person Specification We are seeking a candidate who has: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or working towards QTS Degree in Health & Social Care, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a closely related field Experience (or strong interest) in teaching Health & Social Care / vocational qualifications Strong subject knowledge and up‑to‑date awareness of practice in health and social care sectors Excellent planning, classroom management and assessment skills The ability to use a range of teaching strategies to engage learners of differing abilities Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting the well‑being of students What We Offer A friendly, collaborative staff community Access to CPD, mentoring, and leadership development Well‑resourced classrooms and support for innovation in teaching Opportunities to lead or support enrichment, extra‑curricular or vocational activities Supportive leadership with a focus on staff well‑being
